DESCRIPTION:**The videos of the lectures can be found in the [SIB YouTube c
 hannel](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLoCxWrRWjqB2KFRbtdr6nuU6ma9
 TVqvNc).\n**\n\n# Overview\nThis is a course on bioinformatics resources t
aught by the developers of the resources. Bgee is a curated database of ge
ne expression in animals\, including model species such as human\, mouse o
 r drosophila\, and others such as livestock\, primates\, or fishes. Bgee i
ntegrates information from single-cell and bulk RNA-seq\, microarrays\, an
d in situ hybridization. These data are available through a web interface
and an R package. Bgee also includes tools which use these data\, such as
TopAnat or Expression Comparison\, and allows integration with users' own
data through another R package.\nIn this course\, we will present the cura
ted and pre-analysed gene expression data in Bgee. \n\n\n# Audience\nThis
course is targeted to life scientists who need to retrieve curated gene ex
pression\, obtain expression-based knowledge on genes of interest\, or com
pare expression between genes and between species.\n# Learning outcomes\nA
t the end of the course\, the participants are expected to:\n- Learn how t
o detect active genes from bulk or single-cell RNA-Seq\n- Learn what infor
mation on expression Bgee can provide\n- Understand the added value of Bge
e data curation and analysis\n- Learn about Bgee webtools and their utilit
 y to research\n\n\n# Prerequisites\n\n##### Technical\nThis course will be
streamed\, you are thus required to have your own computer with an intern
et connection.\n\n\n# Schedule - CET time zone\n\n9:00-12:15 CET time zone
  - Online lectures (Frédéric Bastian and Marc Robinson-Rechavi)\n* 9:00-

icipants. \n\nThe lectures will start at 9:00 and end around 12:15 CET. Pr
ecise information will be provided to the participants on due time.\n\n\n\
