Contents:
The “CLI Basics for Life Scientists” course is going to cover topics from working in a de.NBI SimpleVM in the command line interface (CLI) to data transfer handling and facilitating big data analysis. Helpful tips and tricks for generally working in a CLI, as well as specifically with important bioinformatic tools are given along the way. As an example, participants are going to conduct some big data analyses for a plant genomics project to apply and practice their skills.

Learning goals:
After the course, the participants should be able to setup and administrate their own de.NBI simple VM machine and install and run bioinformatic tools efficiently with the help of piping or bash scripts.

Prerequisites:
No prior (bio)informatics knowledge needed, but participants should have basic knowledge about molecular biology.
